Description
This is a lathe model for Cliff Lee's bats. It was a model that would be used to reproduce bats to his exact specifications when he would place a new order with Hillerich and Bradsby (Louisville Slugger). There is side-writing on the barrel in grease pencil. It's very easy to read Cliff Lee and Phila N, but I can't make out every letter. I believe it is Cliff Lee, 6-2-22, and Phila Ntnls L. It's clear that it was the model for 1920s Phillies player Cliff Lee. It was a model so it wasn't used or cracked, but there are some grooves on the handle. I don't know if this happened in the process of reproducing bats for him, but you can see this in the photos.
