1980-83 Lou Piniella New York Yankees Game Used Louisville Slugger S2 Bat

This is for an original 1980-1983 era Louisville Slugger S2 Lou Piniella signature model game used bat from his time with the Yankees. The bat carries the 4 ½ inch Louisville Slugger centerbrand which puts it during Lous later years with the Yankees. The bat is 34 ½ inches and weighs 31 ½ ounces matching Lou's bat orders for the time period. The bat is near perfect with a nice criss cross tape job, bat rack marks stitch marks, ball marks, pine tar and some dead wood on the back of the barrel. The only problems with the bat is that the end of the knob has been blacked out, which usually means it became a batting practice bat, maybe because of the deadwood on the hitting surface. Also, there is a chip out of the knob, but I truly believe the person who purchased the bat years ago cut a notch out so it can lay perfect on a flat surface to display it without having it roll off of a anything. There is also a small hole which probably held an extremely small screw, which again, was probably put there to display the bat. For Yankee collectors, a Lou Piniella gamer is probably one of the toughest bats to come across. Here you have a real beauty from when Lou was wrapping up his career with the Yanks and mainly being used as a DH and pinch hitter maintaining is .291 career batting average. A tough bat to find and uncracked to boot. Don’t wait for another to come around as you might be waiting forever.
