19th C. English Victorian Oak Coal Scuttle With Original Metal Insert & Shovel.
It measures approximately  14" wide x 18-1/2" deep (20" including the shovel holder and shovel) x 13-1/2" high (not including the shovel).  It is in absolutely beautiful estate condition with NO breaks and NO repairs.  The oak shows a dark stained finish with minor age appropriate surface wear and minor loss to the applied decoration, as shown in the photos.  It features the original sausage turned handle.  The original metal insert is removable with one folding handle.  The hinged wooden lid retains the original hinge and an old, if not original, mushroom pull.  The backside shows the original shovel holder and shovel.  This beautiful antique English coal scuttle could certainly be used as originally intended and would make an outstanding period heath accessory.  Be sure to see our other listings for more antiques from the same estate collection!
