    "Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein"
(1948) is an American horror comedy film, featuring the famous comedy team of
    Abbott and Costello.
The film was the first of several that starred the comedy duo. With the basic premise of meeting many of the classic characters from Universal Pictures' horror-film stable----this film had Abbot and Costello encountering
    Count Dracula (Bela Lugosi),
    the monster of
    Frankenstein
monster (played by Glenn Strange), and the
    Wolf Man
(Lon Chaney Jr.). Later films featured the comedic duo dealing with
The Invisible Man, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde,
    and
    The Mummy.
In 2001----the Library of Congress described the movie of
    "Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein"
    as "
    culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant."
The United States LOC selected it for preservation in the National Film Registry. Reader's Digest called it
"one of the top 100 funniest films of all time."
The movie comedy is also number "56" on the list of the American Film Institute's
    "100 Funniest American Movies".
