QUESTION ANSWERED  ;;;   ;  in researching the question of  my Adirondack guide as opposed to a St Lawrence skiff,
looking at the ''offsets'' view of the St Law.  from the front , you will note a more blunt water entrance.
the St Law,  is a heaver boat in construction,  having bow and stern ''decking,  the AD, has small bow / stern ''plates''
the AD,  under load has little ''free board''  fine for a calm lake  , on a river current under  load  the ST,LAW , would have more ''free board''
harder to row but safer, ,  both boats were designed over time to do their job.   ''form and function''..
the AD,  is easy to row and looking at her bow on, , easy to understand why.   .
the old turn of 20th century photos show an AD  loaded with  2 NY sports, 1 guide,  2 dead deer,  fish, big old ''pike''  and 3 dogs.
all heading for dock after the day.
there is no question my AD is pure of heart.  and ready after a complete coating of ''boiled linseed oil ''  to race.
