rass Coal Bin Scuttle  Box  with  ornate   relief
A  handsome brass coal bin bucket with  ornate   relief  feet and    ornate handle details.
The front has a lovely  floral  relief in the  center.
This  fireplace bin  is perfect for  kindling, wood, or trash---. also the perfect size to hold artificial logs -
The feet  are   ornate and are of good thickness and substantial
In the back  on either side  are   two scroll  holders for fireplace tools  to hold the tools upright .
Included in listing ;  a poker and  brass tongs for   lifting up the log.

- Approximately 16" W by 12" D by 28" H - it weighs about 25 pounds
Details:
The detailed floral motifs are  festoons in an elegant display,
ornately crafted .
The base is surmounted by scrolled feet. Overall   the box   has
an outstanding rich and mellow surface patina.
Condition:
For its age it is in very good condition.There may be very minor imperfections to the gilt in this very old piece, only adding character. It makes a handsome architectural accent .
This Coal Box is one part of this Southern Antique collector's possessions , who   back in the 1930's- 1950'd, this collector carefully  acquired antiques  and stored in for more than half of a century.  A Vintage  Newspaper article said."Maybe the collector didn’t even remember where it was stored or why he had saved it all those years. Maybe just because he liked it , with no use in mind. But the fact remains that, in depths of the Great Depression when the decorative features of razed residences might be had, at least, for carting them away at most, for a song. This collector did a lot of singing! His acquisitions, in any event are incorporated today in some of the old south’s pretentious homes.
