ANTIQUE FEDERAL BRASS 28" FIREPLACE TONGS FANCY FINIAL TOP BRASS HINGE MID 1800'S ??
This eBay listing is for an antique brass and wrought cast iron fireplace tongs.    The tongs come as you see pictured in the listing.   I know little about andirons and fireplace tools but I just picked up a few pieces from a local catalog estate sale and tried to do a little homework to better educate myself on them.   I believe this is what they call American Federal period brass tongs with seamed fancy brass finial topper and hinged in brass as well.    The overall size is just over 28" tall.    Possible made in Boston in the early to mid 1800's.   The condition is good for their age.
These these were all hand made back in the day so please review the pictures to see it's true condition and how it was made and designed.    The auction house didn't offer any history on them but I heard someone saying they came from one of the old mansions on Front Street in Harrisburg, PA.   No makers names, hallmarks or codes were found.
