    Description

This antique fire pot is a beautiful addition to any fireplace hearth. These pots were once used to start fireplace fires. The pot would contain a flammable liquid such as kerosene and the wand would sit in this liquid fuel. The wand would be placed in the fireplace next to the wood, and then lit.  As the kerosene burned its flame would ignite the wood.  These can be used to start fires in our modern era with clean burning lamp oil.
I believe it is made of tin. It has rust on the interior but the exterior is in great shape. The manufacturer's logo, which shows a sailing ship and the printed word Mayfair, can be seen in the center of the lid, faint but visible.  There are a few small dents on the bottom but they haven't punctured through the metal.  The pot measures 6 1/2" tall and the want measures 11 1/2" long.
