    Description

Up for sale is a unique collection of artifacts.
They were salvaged from the 1798 wreck, HMS Colossus, one of England's most famous battleships, a ship that fought alongside Nelson at St. Vincent, and was part of the Fleet at the Nile. The ship was tasked with bringing
the renowned Hamilton Collection of Etruscan vases and statues from Naples back to the newly formed British Museum in England. The ship
was lost off Southhard Well Isles of Scilly in 1798 in a violent storm.
These artifacts were on display at our local library for six months and are being sold to fund a new exhibit. All were purchased directly from the salvage team.
All items will include a descriptive certificate of authenticity
signed by the salvors, and each has photos of the items referenced and attached to the certificates.
    Item #1:
The rare and UNDAMAGED LARGE WINE or PORTER BOTTLE of dark green or black glass.
    Item #2:
A rare pair of NAVIGATIONAL DIVIDERS used on the ship. The salvage crew found these in two pieces and you can see that they have been soldered so that they can easily open and close again. Just imagine the last person to use these probably navigating their way to the Scilly Isles where they came to grief.
    Items #3
: Extremely rare pieces of HAMILTON'S ANCIENT GREEK POTTERY. Note the bits of wood embedded in the matrix. Fantastic bits of history!
    Items #4:
Three sizable pieces of GLASS FROM THE STERN WINDOWS OF HMS COLOSSUS. Just imagine what would have been seen through these windows at the battle of St. Vincent, the Nile and other engagements involving this famous ship.
Included in the sale is a new copy of the book, "HMS Colossus, the Story of the Salvage of the Hamilton Treasures" by Roland Morris, and a period press photo.
Shipping is free, with a signature required.
