"BONZO" The DOG 1920's PAPER MACHE FIGURAL SOUVENIR: 1 Original 1920's-1930's "BONZO" The DOG Figural Souvenir with Original Metal Spring Tail - Bonzo Figure made of Paper Mache (?) which appears to have a sort of thin plaster like outer coating, Hand painted accents - Marked Germany - base is hand painted "Souvenir at/of Victoria, Canada" - Has Original Metal Spring type Tail which is RARE to find - Note: This is NOT a Coin Bank - SIZE: "BONZO" is est. 5-1/2" wide" x 5-3/4" tall, looks complete, Note: The White paint is not bright white - has no main cracks or chips - NOTE: the only defect I see is maybe a factory flaw? which shows a small cracking area between the front legs like it cracked from age or maybe the coating was too thin at time of creation? - Sold As-Is - SEE ALL IMAGES.

- Bottom front of Fig. base is hand painted in black "Souvenir at/of Victoria, Canada" - BONZO is shown posed smiling -
Has Original Metal Spring type Tail which is very hard to find -

: Bonzo the Dog is a fictional cartoon character
first created in 1922 by George Studdy.
Other Characters included Bonzo's Girl friend "Chee-Kee" the Pekingese & "Ooloo" The Black Cat

He quickly became one of the most popular dogs around and was a widely known celebrity in the 1920s. Bonzo starred in one of the world’s 1st cartoons, became an inspiration for mass-marketed merchandise
, and became a favorite among children and adults.
Bonzo was the source of inspiration for a major merchandise campaign. In the 1920s several bookstores, department stores, and toy stores were selling Bonzo merchandise. Merchandise was mass-produced and manufactured not only in Bonzo’s home country of England, but also in America, Austria, Belgium, Czechoslovakia, Denmark, France, Germany, Japan, and the Netherlands.
