    A native of Maracaibo, Venezuela, Carlos Gonzalez was signed as an undrafted free agent in 2002 by the Arizona Diamondbacks, and played in that system through the 2007 season. Signing with the Colorado Rockies in 2008, Gonzalez reached the Major Leagues with that team the same year. He continued to play for the Rockies through the 2018 season, In 2019 Gonzalez played for both the Major League Cleveland Indians and the Chicago Cubs.
