Macro algae is a great way to reduce nitrates and phosphates in saltwater aquariums. Often thought of as a plants, algae are actually part of the Protista Biological Kingdom. Unlike plants, they can survive without roots, as they absorb water and nutrients through their entire body.
An excellent resource for marine hobbyists, not only making water clearer and coral brighter, but macro algae can also reduce, and eventually eliminate, the need for water changes altogether.
Ornamental and practical, Dragon's Tongue (also known as Dragon's Tongue Fire) is a great addition to both refugiums and display tanks. It prefers strong lighting and medium current. This algae can be attached to a rock, frag or rubble at the base with super glue gel. Your sample will be approximately 2-3 inches in length and come attached to a coral plug.
Macro algae specimens are guaranteed to arrive alive, double bagged, and sealed in thermally insulated packaging. During cold to temperate weather, a heating pack will provided at no additional cost.
