Description

Early 1900's Main's Special Mushroom Handle Game Used Baseball Bat.  Measures 35" in length and weighs in at a whopping 40 oz.
Manufactured by Main's & Dolly, Sandy Creek, Me.   Looks similar to the Spalding Mushroom bat, with second growth  ash.
Sandy Creek, Me was the hometown of professional baseball player W.E. (Willard "Grasshopper")
Mains.
Bat remains uncracked but shows some ball marks and other wear on the barrel.  The center brand label has faded but portions are still visible (see images).  The "Mains Special" on the barrel is easily legible.
There is some type of white paint numbers on the knob of the bat.  Not sure if that is some type of label or painted on.
