LESLIE 300 TYFON Steam/Air Fog Horn

Description

Up for bid is a LESLIE 300 TYFON Steam/Air Fog Horn.  This horn was used as a warning siren in case of attack and is painted U.S. Government light green.  The Leslie 300 is made of bronze, as you can see where the paint is worn around the horn for use in salt water environments.  It is 40" long 18" in diameter (max) and weights 290lbs.  Total weight with the stand is about 350lbs.
The model number of the Tyfon horns indicates the diaphragm diameter in millimeters.     Thus, the Leslie 300 has an 11.8" diameter diaphragm that sets the tone.  In the two tone fog horn scheme, this is the higher or first tone.
A new spring was added to the valve handle and everything appears to work (it was working when taken out of service) but it requires 150 psi on an 1 1/2 inch inlet and I have no means of testing.  The inlet and purge/drain valve can be seen in the photos.
I suggest you look on YouTube for several videos with the Leslie 300.  If you have the time, inclination, and a big compressor, looks like a lot of fun.
