Description:
Presented for your consideration is this pair of antique figural andirons. Andirons are bracket supports for which logs are laid for burning in an open fireplace so that air can circulate under the firewood. This allows for better burning and less smoke. The andirons are made of cast iron with an owl at the front of each. Each owl is painted black with yellow painted eyes. The body of each owl is textured to look like feathers and the owls look like they are perched on a branch. Nice, intricate detailing is present throughout each. Each andiron is completed with a 13 1/2" long arm at the back to serve as a base. The paint is all original. There are no markings to indicate a manufacturer. These neat andirons would make a great addition to any fireplace accessory collection!
One of the arms is loose and needs to be tightened. Some light oxidation is on the back of one owl, near the bottom. Typical light wear from age and use. Overall in VERY GOOD condition. Please refer to the photos for the absolute best details.
Each measures 16" long, 8 1/2" wide at the widest point and 13 3/4" tall.
