    Rare Mortimer Snerd Hand Puppet Circa 1940s Toy
    For sale at a buy it now fixed price is this rare estate find.  It is a child's hand puppet.  We think it is Mortimer Snerd.  Mortimer was the second Edgar Bergen ventriloquist's dummy, a companion to Charlie McCarthy.  He was born in 1938.  It has composition hands and a composition head.  It is some 6 inches tall, measuring from top of head to bottom of cloth.  It is child sized and not many adult hands will fit in the cloth.  Some are of the opinion that this is a very early Howdy Doody puppet but we don't think so.
    Condition is used but excellent with no damage to the composition (rare in itself), and no damage to the cloth.
