Red Grape Kelp (Botryocladia sp.) is found in slightly varying forms throughout the worlds marine environments. Botryocladia spp. has an appearance similar to forms of Grape Caulerpa only red in color instead of green. The plant does very well in the marine aquarium environment and can be kept in the main aquarium, sump or refugium.
The Red Grape species of Kelp requires moderate to high lighting along with moderate water flow and nutrient levels. Many hobbyists utilize this plant as a form of nutrient export, the plant is grown in a sump or refugium where is removes nutrients from the water column then is fed to herbivorous fish species who consume the plant. If keeping Red Grape Kelp in the aquarium as an ornamental plant, it cannot be kept with herbivorous fish as they will eagerly consume the plant.
Aquarium Care
How to successfully keep Red Grape Kelp in the home aquarium. Red Grape Kelp generally grows less than a 12 inches tall before it begins to grow outwards using its creeping vines to attach to nearby rocks. It will grow more rapidly in aquariums or sumps with strong lighting and moderate nutrient levels on which the plant can feed. Overall Botryocladia spp. makes and excellent plant for filtration purposes as it consumes nutrients rapidly, is easy to prune and makes an excellent food source for many fish species.
Red Grape Kelp is a very attractive plant that can be used as an ornamental plant in aquariums that do not contain fish species that will consume it. However, its rapid growth and creeping vines might make it unsuitable for many reef aquariums as it can grown in and on corals and filtration equipment.
Growth and Feeding
How to properly feed & supplement Red Grape Kelp and provide a healthy environment. Hobbyists looking to grow Red Grape Kelp for a supplemental food source for their fish will want to place the plant in a well lit sump or refugium with a moderate amount of water flow. The plant can be easily pruned and placed into the display tank for fish to feed on. Botryocladia spp. is a highly sought after form or macro-algae that most herbivore fish species will readily consume, which along with its high nutritional value make it an excellent supplemental food source.

The shipment must be received on the first delivery attempt. If you miss the delivery and the package is delayed a day or more because of it, we cannot accept responsibility for any losses. It is your responsibility to check the tracking number for delivery. The shipment must be sent to the correct delivery address on file according to Paypal, do not request shipment to be delivered to another address not listed on your Paypal or eBay account.
NOTE:
We are not responsible for errors, postal delays, wrong addresses mail holds, or P.O. Box deliveries by the postal carrier. If USPS forwards your shipment in error, we do cover that type of mistake.
All claims must be made and or brought to our attention via eBay Messages within 24 hours of the package being delivered.
We ship
USPS PRIORITY MAIL which would take a delivery time of 2-4 days.
You will get a tracking number, it is important you check this tracking number 2-3 times each day to see when the box will arrive at your home. Please make sure you are at home the day of the arrival or arrange for someone to be there to receive the plants/shrimp and that they know how to properly care for the plants/shrimp. The less time they spend in the box the better.
Shore Aquatic ships Monday -Thursday depending on location in order to avoid the weekend. All orders placed after Thursday 12 PM will be shipped the following Monday.
When will items ship?
We reserve the right to hold delivery due to inclement weather.
If you would like to receive your item faster, we recommend purchasing priority mail.
Temperature is very important for live delivery of plants. Please check the 7-day weather forecast in your location before placing your order. If the temperature in the coming days is too low (below 35F) or too high (above 90F), please do not order.
NOTE:
USPS is slower than normal due to COVID restrictions.
DOA/Damaged Claims:

Livestock:
We guarantee live arrival on all our livestock. In the rare event livestock shows up dead, we must be notified within 2 hours of delivery. Keep in mind these plants/livestock just took the journey of their lifetime in a dark box for 2-4 days so they will take time to recover and to be at their best again. Please take clear photos of the dead plant/livestock and send it to us within 2 hours of receiving the item and send the clear photos to ebay once the item is validated by us, we will send a replacement or refund.
Failure to comply with one or more of these policies will mean we can no longer cover you.
We guarantee live arrival of all livestock. This means we assure that livestock will show up alive. We do not guarantee your success in keeping the livestock alive/healthy. Lots of outside factors that we cannot control go into the success or failure of keeping livestock healthy. We are here to help but are not liable after you have received the livestock alive.
Do your plants have snails?
We try not to have snails/pests, but it happens, we remove any visible imperfections before shipment however to be 100% certain we suggest that you either do a 1:20 ratio bleach to water dip and/or wash the plants. Anytime you add something new to an aquarium it is important to rinse it off before adding just to be safe.
