Description of this plate in the 1981 guide -
"Pairpoint's First Fifty Plates" reads:
"The Charles W. Morgan, a three-masted ship, was built in the
Hillman Yard in New Bedford, Massachusetts. After it was
retired from service, it was enshrined for many years at the
Round Hill estate of Col. Edward H.R. Green of
Dartmouth, Massachusetts where the public was admitted to
view it. After his death, the ship was moved to Mystic Seaport in
Mystic, Connecticut, where it is again on public view. The
Charles W. Morgan is the only surviving American wooden
whale ship that sailed the seas in search of whales during the
19th century. The cup was commissioned by Mystic Seaport".
On a window sill, these cup plates capture the sun beautifully, further
accentuating the intricate designs & color.
