WW2 Shreve & Co Onyx War Effort Box with Sterling Hardware, 14K Gold Stars. Condition is "Used". Natural large gemstone slabs such as these used by Shreve & Co in crafting this commemorative war effort personalized award box reveal a few visible inclusions, not cracks, which are not felt with a fingernail on the surfaces of this masterpiece!  Stamped 14KT Gold stars weigh  about 1 gram each; Sterling silver Plaque and ribbed borders, bars and hinges are solid! The inside divided cedar wood compartment is in excellent condition. The black base is carved from a solid slab of black onyx with a felt underside attached to prevent scratches and slippage when displayed on furniture or shelves!
